Description
Paper D is where you stop losing “easy marks”
ABOHNS (ABOTo) Written Boards/Qualifying Exam — Mock Paper D is built to do what high scorers do late in prep:
convert knowledge into consistent points. By this stage, most candidates don’t need “more facts” —
they need fewer unforced errors, better pacing, and a repeatable method for tough stems.
Paper D is a strict, board-style block of 150 questions over 150 minutes. It’s intentionally sized so you can:
(1) practise true exam pacing, (2) review explanations properly, and (3) re-test missed items until the rules stick.
The ABOHNS Written Exam is a computer-based, closed-book assessment across the breadth of otolaryngology–head & neck surgery.
Then rehearse an “exam-day” run by doing two papers back-to-back to approximate
~300 questions over ~6–7 hours (with a short break).
What’s included
- Mock Paper D: 150 board-style SBA/MCQ questions in a strict 150-minute sitting
- Detailed explanations: turn misses into memorable “exam rules”
- Consistency training: reduce second-guessing and improve “commit rate” on best answers
- Error-proofing: trap patterns, look-alikes, and classic “gotcha” wording
Why Paper D works
- Fewer careless errors: you’ll identify the predictable ways you drop marks.
- Repeatable pacing: train a two-pass approach that protects your clock.
- Durable learning: sit → review → rules list → re-test (48 hours + 10–14 days).
- Blueprint-aware breadth: mixed coverage aligned with current ABOHNS exam direction.
Suggested workflow
- Step 1: Sit Paper D timed. Flag “time sinks” and any item you guessed.
- Step 2: Review explanations and write a Rules List (1–2 lines per miss).
- Step 3: Reattempt incorrect/flagged items at 48 hours.
- Step 4: Re-test again at 10–14 days, then repeat the same error-proofing process.
